Quality Assurance and Regulation

In the main, the functions of the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Regulation entail registration of tertiary institution in accordance with the provisions of the Tertiary Education Act and the Regulations for Registration of Public and Private Tertiary Institutions.

In the case of newly established institutions, such institutions would be registered in accordance with the Regulations for Issuance of a Letter of Interim Authority (to operate a tertiary institution). The directorate is also responsible for ensuring maintenance of institutional standards through its quality assurance and accreditation systems and procedures.

This is in keeping with the requirement to ensure that approved institutions in terms of compliance with the registration and accreditation regulations and procedures maintain high standards of teaching, examinations/assessment systems as well as quality research.
