Registering an Existing Private Institution

Section 21 of the Act prescribes that every tertiary institution, which is operating in Botswana, shall apply to the Executive Secretary for registration. This should be within six (6) months of commencement of the Act or within the period extended by the Council. An existing private institution operating in Botswana is required to register with the TEC.

The Registration booklet, which contains the criteria for assessing applications, application forms and related fees are obtainable from the TEC Secretariat for a fee of P 50.00.

Institutions that are required to register with the TEC are those offering training in programmes at Diploma level and above. Any institution that is registered to operate shall be issued with a Registration Certificate and its name shall be published in the TEC Register of Institutions.
